It’s been a long, long day and night (and day!), but we’re finally in Rome. Unfortunately for us, our flight out of SFO was delayed by 45 minutes, we couldn’t land at Heathrow Airport due to increased flight activity, and we missed our flight. We eventually caught a later flight, which got us to Rome at 7:30 PM, and after some not-so-good times picking up luggage and using the ATM, we left for a true Italian late evening dinner. After some pasta, pork, roasted potatoes, wine, beer, and a surprise cake for my birthday celebration, we are now at the Hotel Gioberti.

It’s almost midnight and we have a 8:00 AM bus taking us to St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel, Forum Romanum, Pantheon, Colosseum, and the Trevi Fountain. Whew….think we’ll head to bed cause it looks like a long Roman holiday ahead!  Hopefully we'll have much more to talk about tomorrow!
